Prayer for Juilliard

December 1, 2006

Arielle, one of the leaders for the Juilliard Christian Fellowship, asked for prayer for their group as they give two concerts: One tonight, December 1st, for Campus Crusade for Christ, and one next Saturday, December 9th, as a fund raiser for a charity. Thank you for lifting up your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Eastman News

December 1, 2006

The Eastman Bible study, led by Kate Torrey, has decided to try a new approach for outreach.  They want to present the gospel in the language the campus speaks, and are beginning a monthly concert series the week before Valentine’s Day.  Each concert will incorporate performers and speakers around one theme, tying the gospel into the presentation.  The theme for the week before Valentine’s Day is:  (get ready for this)  Hate.  Surprising?  Yes! — and attention grabbing.

We are praying for you, Eastman!

Only the Lonely………

December 1, 2006

So, Joy and I had our Bible study again this morning. Yes: 8 a.m. on a Friday morning, just the two of us, staring at each other with bleary eyes wondering what the heck we were doing. (And where is the COFFEE???)

But it was incredible! There we were, just the two of us, sleep deprived as all get out, discovering vast riches. Riches like, there is NOTHING we can do to be made righteous. That we are helpless sinners, offered grace by Christ for free. We were changed and transformed by the Word’s healing truth.

So the question is, is it worth studying the Bible even if it’s just two of you? And the answer is a resounding YES. The Bible study leaders at the University of Utah thought so last year, studying Hosea together “until someone shows up”, as Mandy put it. The Bible study leaders at the University of Maryland at College Park think so: two of them faithfully meet together to study Romans.

You see, friends, the Word changes lives — your life — my life — anyone’s life who comes into contact with it. Because it leads us to Christ, and Christ changes lives. And I don’t know about you, but I want to be CHANGED!

Look at Isaiah 55:10-11 :
“(My Word) will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Let’s keep meeting together!

In Christ~
